Michigan Food & Farming Systems

MIFFS is dedicated to connecting resources to those in need. They will update this database as more resources are made available. The list is changing often; if you have a resource that pertains to the response of COVID 19 it can be added by sending an email to john@miffs.org.

The Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA) defines a farmers market as a public and recurring assembly of farmers or their representatives selling direct-to-consumer foods and products which they produced themselves. There is nothing better than purchasing fresh, quality food and goods from someone in your own community.

Do you sell at or assist with the management of a farmers market? If so, check out these guidelines and recommendations for Farmers Markets to modify their operations recently released by MIFMA. Other resources for market operations, managers, and staying informed can be viewed on the nation-wide Farmers Market Coalition COVID-19 Resources page.

USDA and its Federal partners have programs that can be used to provide immediate and long-term assistance to rural communities affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. These programs can support recovery efforts for rural residents, businesses and communities through:
• technical, training, and management assistance;
• financial assistance; and
• state and local assistance.
This resource matrix organizes funding opportunities identified in the CARES Act and other federal resources that can help support rural America. Opportunities are categorized by customer and assistance type. For more information on the immediate actions USDA is taking to respond to COVID-19, visit usda.gov/coronavirus.
