Bird-Friendly Gardening - Houghton, MI

Speaker: Dr. David Flaspohler, Professor, School of Forest Research and Environmental Science, Michigan Technological University

Location: Portage Lake District Library, 58 Huron St., Houghton, MI 49931
Year-round-resident and migratory birds depend on resources such as insects, berries, seeds and water that can be provided in your garden and your yard.

This talk will describe the diverse diet of some of our local birds, and what you can do to make your yard, land, and forest more bird friendly.

David will summarize some recent research on the use of native versus exotic landscaping plants and compare their relative value for birds.
Keweenaw Garden Club presentations are free and open to the public.
